5 Things to Start the New Year Productively & Ensure I Reach My Goals

As we dive fully into the first working week of 2019, I have been thinking a lot about my goals for this new year and all the different measures I’m putting in place to accomplish them. I mentioned all these measures below in case it helps or inspires anyone.

1. Set My Goals

I know, this seems obvious but a lot of people do not do it. I have been reading more about the Law of Attraction for the past years, and it is said that if you write your goals down, you are 42% more likely to achieve them. Usually, I would set monthly achievable goals in my planner and work towards them, but this year I chose to do a Vision Board with all my goals and affirmations so I can see/read it every day at my desk and visualize them. Presumably, one of the best things I’ve done as you can make it such a production process, I so liked making mine as well as loving the result. Now when I sit at my desk to work; I have this constant reminder in front of me. Try it; you will not regret it.

2. Meditation

I began meditating every morning last year to help overcome stress and put myself in the right mindset for the day. It has been life-changing, and I would suggest it to anybody. This year I needed to start taking some more time during the day to recover focus and not enable myself to get stressed and hence be more productive. Sometimes those times to just sit and exist are very needed.

3. Morning Routine

Starting each day well is so crucial to your productivity during the day. I love my morning habit, it sets me up for the day; and I get up early so I can suit in things that make me happy, like meditation, exercise, yoga, doing my skincare and making myself some morning juices. If you start the day being stressed, you will carry that throughout the day. This year I aim to focus on sleeping longer, going to bed earlier so I can enjoy my mornings and be fully rested so I do not crash during the day.

4. Minimize And Organise

I spoke about applying the KonMari plan when organizing my wardrobe on my stories and how it has indeed been life changing. Giving everything in my home its own home & storing it correctly makes all the difference when you have an occupied life.

You pick the items that ‘give you joy’ and let the others go. When everything is organized and minimized, I feel 10x more productive. I also started to pull together my clothes for the week for work and shooting and to steam them before hanging them in separate looks on my rail – such a time saver. Is it all about preparation right?

5. Mindset

The most critical step to ensuring I kick the year off well & do everything I can to attain my goals has been changing my mindset to be the most grateful and positive that I can be. To achieve anything you must believe that it’s possible.

Start fresh, 2018 and everything you have done or didn’t do it in the past, Don’t feel bad, just start again. I always buy all new stationery, notebooks, and a planner to begin the year in the best possible mindset that I can. This benefits me with productivity because it’s a new focus. I can enjoy the memories and achievements from last year but focus on visualizing what this year will bring.
