Guidelines To Empower Employees To Work From Home

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is likely to transform the system that many organizations use for the predictable future. Since it has been urged by the World Health Organization to exercise social distancing and stay home, working remotely has become a new standard of work.

A report from research firm Valoir found that the abrupt shift to working from home as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic has had only had a 1 percent decline in work productivity. And more than 40 percent of workers would desire to work at home full time in the future.

Where, on the one hand, researches are being conducted to promote work at home as the most proficient way of doing business. On the other hand, many business owners worry that their workforce will spend their days watching Netflix or wasting time on social media. And, unfortunately, this is true! But many evidences show if you’ve got a trustworthy team, it won’t be problematic for you to move from an in-house company to a 100% remote team. Even if you are not fully convinced of the overwhelming benefits of remote teams, you must see the following statistics which are:

  • 85% of businesses confirm that productivity has increased in their company after going remote.
  • 90% of employees say more flexible work arrangements would increase employee morale.
  • Remote workers are 57% more likely than the average American to be satisfied with their job.

But before you do that, you need to learn how to help your employees move from on-site to remote work. Your company’s future could depend on it!

1) Set Expectations:

The most important part of teleworking is mentioning what an individual employee is projected to achieve, along with proper guidelines that must be discussed. Communication policies, time tracking, necessary programs, availability reporting are some examples of expectations that are needed to be defined before you are aiming to transit on-site work to home-based.

By defining the expectation well, Work from home will be much smoother and offers the least chance of any misinterpretations or unproductive consumption of time.

2) Provide Your Workforce the Appropriate Means:

In the office, every employee is crouched down at their workstation, making it easier for a manager to observe them. Also, time tracking software must be used by an organization, keeping an eye on their hours at work. When employees work from home, you are unlikely to monitor them that convenience disappears, and are less certain of how long they’re working or what they’re working on. Time management software can help eliminate these worries and keep assessing their progress on tasks.

4) Arrange Company-Wide Meetings:

Arranging too many meetings or not holding enough at all can cause great trouble. You must find the balance by scheduling enough meetings that your team should not feel like they’re roving pointlessly month after month, but too many meetings that you will waste time unnecessarily.

5) Reliance on Your Employees:

The most essential point that should be kept in mind when your employees are working off-site is how much you are relying on them. You need to trust them to keep them motivated, encouraged, and prevent them from going into disengagement. If you build a bond of trust with your employees, many doubts and worries about them working from home will disappear and everyone will show their best.
